Mercenaries

Mercenaries come in all shapes and sizes. They travel by booking passage on Courier ships. They can be hired in the usual fashion and will go anywhere the price is right.

Some of the card-carrying mercs are also part of the League of Adventurers.

Mercenaries will always go to the highest paying employer. If they receive a better offer from an enemy, they'll switch sides, but only after having informed their current employer and returning any up-front money. However, most won't consider such an offer until it exceeds their current pay by at least 10%.

The most successful mercenaries have their own ships and/or castles, but they require proportionately more money to hire, due to their reputation for success and history of getting the job done.

The mercenaries are an excuse to toss in whatever kind of NPCs the GM feels like. Always give them the Code of Honor (Professional) Disadvantage (B127).
